About Us

Clearfield Museum will reopen Sundays and Thursdays starting May 7th, 2017 through October 29th, 2017 between the hours of 1:30pm & 4:30pm each day.

This Clearfield County Historical Society is a completely volunteer, non-profit origanization with a single purpose of preserving the rich history of Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.


We have no paid staff, but rely soley on memberships and donations from you, memorials from varied interests and general book sales to fund the upkeep and preservation of our three historical museums:

  1. Kerr House

  2. Alexander Rresearch Center 

  3. "Bloody Knox" Cabin.

The following genealogical research services are available to our public:

  1. Self-Guided Research - with Staff Assistance(flat $5 fee)

  2. Staff Research - within Museum Resources(flat $25 fee - preliminary search, one family only)

  3. Staff Research - at Clearfield County Court House($15 per hour)

We are pleased to be able to provide these selections of family historical research, enabling you to find names, dates and events of those who passed through Clearfield County in prior times.

    Our Clearfield  'Kerr' Museum and Alexander Research Center is open each Sunday and Thursday from  1:30 to 4:30pm weekly.

    Courtesy guided group tours of our 'Kerr House' Museum can be arrainged year round by calling


Appointments for research at the Alexander Center can be arranged by calling 814-765-6125 and letting a request on the answering service.

Make requests well in advance as there are no regular hours from Nov. thru April.
