Self Guided Research - with Staff Assistance


The Clearfield Museum, its library and Research Center are open seasonally to the public each Sunday and Thursday from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM beginning the first Sunday of May and closing the last Sunday in October.

 

   Fees for genealogical research are just $5 per person per visit and includes assistance from a genealogist.  Research fees are waived for life members.


   There is no fee to tour the Museums or Research Center


ALL researchers pay costs for copies made - 25 cents per page.
Copyrighted material may not be reproduced for any purpose.
The use of scanning and photographic equipment is prohibited in the genealogy and historical files.

Misc. References
    Our references contain 29 volumes of obituaries, 5 volumes of cemeteries, early marriages, early deaths (from 1835), almost 500 surname files, over 200 family histories, early naturalization references, also city directories, phone books, Atlas of Clearfield, Centre and Jefferson Counties and high school yearbooks starting in the early 1900's. There is a complete set of the Pennsylvania Archives, Bates' "History of Pennsylvania Volunteers", 12 volumes of "Engle's Notes and Queries" and 20 volumes of "Pearce and Related Families."

    We also have many early Clearfield County histories and references as well as histories of other Pennsylvania counties. Centre County marriages from 1800 to 1885 and deaths from 1889 to 1920, and information on logging, rafting, railroads and mining histories are other sources available.

Appointments for research at the Alexander Center can be arranged by calling 814-765-6125 and letting a request on the answering service.

Make requests well in advance as there are no regular hours from Nov. thru April.
